How we work

Our vision is a world in which all people with learning or communication difficulties are able to communicate, participate and achieve their potential.

The Makaton Charity manages, monitors, and evaluates what we do and decides what we do next against four strategic objectives:

  1. Training: ensure that there is access to Makaton training for everyone who requires it.
  2. Resources: develop and disseminate the Makaton Programme.
  3. Communication and influence: enhance and increase the impact of the Charity to best achieve our mission.
  4. Infrastructure and governance: ensure that the Charity is sustainable.

All of our activities support our strategic objectives. Every year we review our objectives and activities to ensure that they best meet the needs of people living with learning or communication difficulties.

You can find out more about what we do and the difference we make year on year in our Trustees' Report and Financial Statements (pdf file, 256kb), which is also available on the Charity Commission website.
