The Peace Garden
In April last year we were approached by Aylesford Priory and asked to provide the Makaton Symbol for Peace.  The symbol would be part of a special pavement they were creating at their new Peace Garden.The idea was that the entrance to the garden would have a pavement of peace tiles.

Boogie 9000: Makaton Robot
Boogie 9000: Makaton Robot is a short film by students of Beacon Hill Film Project in North Shields that highlights the importance of Makaton.It is about a robot who is sent from his home planet of Beebop to find more Makaton words.

The last 12 months I’ve really clocked up some mileage on my poor car. January to April 2012 alone, I carried out 64 visits from Torquay to Anglesey and Newcastle to Perth and Ballymena.I’ve been meeting hundreds of  Makaton fans all over the UK.

The Rambling Duck
"Running the miles, for the smiles, awareness and funds"I work with special needs children and adults with learning behaviours. I use Makaton to endorse what I would like to say, and like wise, so do they. It is a back up to what their body language and "poor speech" are saying.

Welcome to Our World… Living with Autism
The Makaton Charity worked with the Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum of Childhood to create a display called 'Welcome to Our World… Living with Autism', which was open to the public from mid-2010 to mid-2011.

Deborah's story
It’s 6.45 am, Steve and I are still in bed, Tom, our youngest child who is 14, has just woken up and is outside our room.“Mum!” – I understood that anyway “I ..............." There follows a big long sentence that I just can’t make out. “Tom, come in here I can’t see what you’re saying.

National Sing Up Day
Forest Arts Centre (FAC) in Walsall, held a special ‘Sing and Sign Day’ for KS1 and KS2 pupils from local schools to celebrate National Sing Up Day. FAC are fortunate to have two of only nine ‘Using Makaton with Singing’ tutors in the UK, trained by The Makaton Charity and Sing Up in 2011.

The Hand: inspired by Makaton
