The Margaret Walker Endowment Fund
Imagine what it would be like if you couldn't speak? How would you commuincate?

Margaret Walker MBE
That is exactly the situation that challenged Margaret Walker, designer of the Makaton Language Programme, over 30 years ago when working as a Speech and Language Therapist with children and adults with severe communication and learning disabilities.
What started as a research project became the Makaton Language Programme - the key to unlocking communication for hundreds of thousands of people.
Today, thanks to Margaret, people in Britain and around the world use Makaton symbols and signs either as their main means of communication or as a way to support speech and learning.
After many years of hard work that included founding, establishing, and running the Charity, Margaret has retired. To honour Margaret's achievements and pioneering spirit, The Margaret Walker Endowment Fund has been established.
The Margaret Walker Endowment Fund will enable The Makaton Charity to continue creating high quality, cutting edge resources and training, and encourage further innovation.
Please support The Makaton Charity to fulfil Margaret Walker's vision ofproviding the kind of suport that only Makaton can offer, and change people's lives.
