Content
Many skills are involved in the development of speech, language and communication. Just as the construction of a house relies upon good foundations, the learning of communication skills needs each layer to be firmly in place, before the next will develop. The content of this session will include:

  • Description of The Communication Pyramid – the layers of communication development
  • Recognising where a person is on the pyramid and deciding what to aim for next
  • Practical ideas about how Makaton signs and symbols can help at every level
